Welcome Week Small Group Facilitator Registration - 2021

    The incoming class of 2025 will begin their Welcome Week experience on August 16th and we are graciously asking for your assistance!
     
    Volunteers are needed to lead small groups of students for three days during Welcome Week, and to then serve as a point of contact throughout their first semester. This year's curriculum will again be based off of the book Becoming A Learner, which challenges students to carefully reconsider conventional common sense about college and learning, and invites them to consider a new conversation about college and learning that focuses on who they are becoming and their ability to learn. You will be provided with a copy of the book, comprehensive training materials, lunch on Monday and Tuesday of Welcome Week, and a Welcome Week t-shirt.

    Registration Information
    Welcome Week Small Groups will take place on Monday, August 16, Tuesday, August 17, and Wednesday, August 18. As a small group facilitator, you will lead a group of 10 - 60 students through group discussion based on the common read Becoming A Learner. In addition to leading the small group discussion, you will also be asked to attend Convocation and the DEI Program. These events are required for students and happen immediately before or after your small group meeting. This opportunity is open to LSU Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students. 

    As a small group facilitator, you will be provided with a Welcome Week T-Shirt, lunch on Monday and Tuesday, the common read book, and facilitator training.

    Facilitator Training Dates
    • You will select ONE in-person training
    • July 27, 28, or 29 - 9:00am - 12:00pm
    • Additional training materials will be provided throughout the summer

    Welcome Week Small Groups
    • Monday, August 16, 9:00 - 10:30 AM 
    • Tuesday, August 17, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM 
    • Wednesday, August 18, 9:00 - 11:00 AM

    Welcome Week Large Group Meetings
    • Convocation: Monday, August 16, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
    • DEI Program: Tuesday, August 17, 9:00 - 10:45 AM
